What is Y-Church?
Y-Church
is the ministry of Kennet Christian Centre that seeks to meet the
spiritual needs of young people, and in doing so seeks to establish a
place for regular youth fellowship in Newbury.
Great commandment:
“Jesus
replied: ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your
soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest
commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbour as
yourself.’ All the law and the prophets hang on these two
commandments.” (Matthew 22:37-40)
Great Commission:
“Therefore
go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the
Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey
everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to
the very end of the age.”
(Matthew 28:19-20) The five purposes are found in these two passages:

5. Discipleship: “Teaching them to obey” KEEP growing
Y-Church Purpose Statement (youth friendly!)
- We exist to allow young people to MEET one with another and to ADORE
God, in order that we may REACH them for Christ then KEEP growing them
in Christ, that in turn they may SERVE one another and their neighbour.
Our charitable purpose:
To
help young people of all ages in society through prayer and care and
projects of a practical nature providing opportunities for recreation,
social interaction and growth in Christian character.
Written into this statement are our 5 purposes: Evangelism (“to help”),
Discipleship (“growth in Christian character”), Fellowship
(“opportunities for recreation, social interaction”), Worship (“through
prayer”) and Ministry (“projects of a practical nature”).
Our aim:
To
provide church services and activities (that evangelize, disciple, for
worship, fellowship and ministry) for young people of all ages in an
environment that is comfortable and relevant to today’s youth culture.
In all that we do, to teach young people how to live an authentic lifestyle of worship.
Our Objectives:
To create an environment that is comfortable and relevant to today’s youth culture.
To
hold regular activities and special events that serve the purpose of
our aim so that we present to the Lord young people who are outstanding
disciples of our Lord Jesus Christ, totally committed to winning their
generation for Christ.
To make ourselves wholly available to the wider youth community in our town.
